Solids

What are Solids?

Resource: http://www.sewingupmath.com/multicolor%20platonic%20solids%203.jpg
The second element of states of matter is Solid. They are known for the hardness and that is because their molecules are crowded together. Solids have their unique and own shape regardless of the container they are placed in. Take a rock as an example; it will always look like a rock unless an external force is applied to it.

Atoms in a solid are placed in a fix position and are not allowed to move around. That is one of the most important characteristics of solids.

 Questions:

1.Which state of matter is known for its hardness and packed molecules?

2.How are atoms arranged in a solid?

3.If a solid is places in a container does it change its shape ?
